Barnet Marine Park in Burnaby
Located along the shores of Burrard Inlet in Burnaby is Barnet Marine Park. This beautiful waterfront park is a popular summer destination with lots of beaches, outdoor picnic areas and off-leash dog areas.
There is a lovely trail that runs along the waterfront of this park and it offers a great opportunity for a walk, run or bike ride. The trail is flat and easy to walk making it perfect for strollers or wheelchairs. It also provides wonderful views of the mountains and the water.
The park is split into 2 parts, the main park with a BBQ area, washrooms and beach and the off-leash park on the other side of the train tracks. The off-leash park is a nice grassy area that feels contained as it is separated from the train tracks by fences and the shoreline of the water.
Parking for this park is limited and it does fill up quickly during sunny weekends in the summer. There is overflow parking above the highway right next to the Air Mountain Bike Park that you can use if the other lots are full.
While this is a very small park in terms of the amount of area it covers it still feels big as there are so many different places to go and spend time. It is a very kid friendly and dog friendly park with plenty of different beaches, outdoor picnic areas and off-leash area that makes it the ideal location for a family outing.
Located at 8181 Barnet Road this is a very convenient park to get to and it is just a short drive from Burnaby, Vancouver and Port Moody. There are various bus and train routes that stop close by at the Trans Canada Highway or on the Port Moody side at Cates Park.
